Voice over IP (VoIP) - what is it?
Voice over IP (VoIP)
is simply a method of using spare capacity on your Internet connection
to make voice and fax telephone calls
and for more than 10 years, the prospect of using permanent
data links to provide a low cost method of carrying ordinary voice
calls has been the Holy Grail.
Until recently, this has been of benefit to a few larger organisations
able to afford and justify the infrastructure of leased lines
to the Internet. Now with the advent of low cost and (fairly)
readily available broadband connections to the Internet, the
whole face of Voice over IP (VoIP) is changing.
|
Home users can use their broadband connection to
make low cost calls via the Internet to virtually anywhere in the
world – not just to other VoIP users. All that is needed
is a simple telephone adapter.
Business users can do exactly the same thing but with some extra
hardware, VoIP can integrate with their existing telephone systems

Alternatively, you can make as many calls as you like,
whenever you like and for as long as you like for FREE to
anyone else who has a broadband VoIP set-up.
Think of the possibilities, totally free telephone and fax calls
between branch offices, teleworkers, agents, etc., or to loved
ones overseas.
